Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider during a science fair when he was a teenager.  That bite gave him superhero spider-like powers.    Soon after Peter uses his power to earn money and a job.   He soon became a famous entertainer who wore and red and blue spider suit, clearly using his newly found power for personal gain.  While at the studio where we worked at the "The Amazing Spider-Man", Peter was confronted by a burglar whom he easily could have detained, but decided not to because it wasn't his responsibility to do so.  Later that same evening he came home to find his Uncle had been murdered.  He tracked down the killer only to find it was the man he had let go earlier.

Overcome with guilt and grief, Peter come to learn that "With great power comes great responsibility".  From that moment on he vowed to use never again use his powers for personal gain, but instead dedicate himself to the protection of the innocent.  He became the great crime fighting  super-hero Spider-Man.
