Great Catches From Nosara, Costa Rica

It's no wonder that FishingNosara offers the finest Costa Rica Fishing. Read the Fishing Tactics we have perfected at FishingNosara and to view the pictures of all these great catches. Here are the great catches you can read about in FishingNosara’s Fishing Report Costa Rica:

January 2010

Captain Vibert had client Michael Zito on board for a half-day fishing on January 12th. The Master Captain negotiated very strong offshore winds and showed the consistency that has made him a local legend. Despite the weather, Captain Vibert still delivered for his clients: Two 30lbs. Dorados and a nice 15lbs. Yellowfin tuna.

With the Marlin Bite in full force, client Linda booked the Wanderer on January 15th and was at the reel for a double Marlin release: A 200lbs. Black Marlin and a 250lbs. Blue Marlin! She went looking for the grand slam, but was satisfied enough with the two big boys and a 20lbs. Dorado. It was a great day for the boat, client, and crew!

February 2010

On the 1st of February client Terry Schwartz booked the Nice n' Tight for a quick 3 hour trip. Captain Eduardo expertly put him right on a nice tuna bite, and in virtually no time at all Terry had boated two outstanding Yellowfin Tuna ranging from 10-12 lbs. These babies made for some delicious eating! For several years now the Nice n' Tight has been the gold standard for under-25' boats in Garza, and it appears that reputation is safely intact

On January 25th, 26th, and 27th the Wanderer was honored to welcome Captain Kevin Faver, his wife Carrie, and the crew of The Outdoors Show for a few days of fishing and filming. Kevin and Carrie repeated last year's success by catching four Dorados and releasing seven Sailfish. Also Kevin released one of the nicest Rooster Fish of the year so far.

February 6th was a day for the staff of Nosara Paradise Rentals to have some fun out on the water. General Manager Javier Hernandez, transporter Comi, and NPR Concierge Numero Uno Manuel took a sunset cruise on the Wanderer and hauled in a whole mess of fish, included a baby Cuberra Snapper...they returned the little fella to the blue water, but even as a youth it fought like a tiger. It's great to see our wonderful staff have a great day out on the water!

March 2010

The Nice n' Tight did track down some Black Tunas for clients Carl and John on March 3rd and 6th respectively. The Bite turned on in a big way on March 7th for client John Mysak. He fished five straight days with Captain Eduardo on the Nice n' Tight and it seems clear that the fish still don't know what hit 'em. The best day was the first with a 100+lbs. Sailfish release, a nice White Tuna and a tasty Yellowfin...and that was before lunch! Once they got out to the deep water in the early afternoon the spread was attacked by a 200+lbs. Blue Marlin! Mr. Mysak fought him all the way, never gave up, and set-up the crew to successfully live release the big blue monster. Perfect teamwork, perfect fish.

Things got off to a fast start on February 20th when client David Yudelson put the local Black marlin population on the run. They had action in the spread all day and lost an angry 500lbs. tail-walking Black Marlin. David and the boys hung tough, and later in the day they caught and released a Black Marlin around 250lbs. He finished his day off with some topwater casting a caught a variety of reef fish. Great day David!

Jonathan Temple and his party had a fantastic 3/4 day on the Wanderer on February 27th with lots of good bites and nice fish. The action started fast with six Yellowfin tuna in the fishbox before Noon. Then they caught a 35lbs. Cuberra Snapper and a feisty little Yellowtail snapper. Mr. Temple is a Jacksonville resident, and like all our Northeast Florida guests he knows what to do when the rods start bending. The whole party had a great time and did some great work on the reef!

April 2010

In late March Captain Eduardo took the Sailfish to school, raising fourteen of them and getting four all the way to the boat for the release. Watch out fish! Eduardo's in town. April 7th brought a massive catch for client Tom who fished on board the Nice n' Tight and released a nice Sailfish in the 80lbs. range. Captain Eduardo then hunted the reefs for some Yellowfin tuna, and Tom was burying the hooks and bending rods to the tune of twenty-five fish! Captain Eduardo made certain that Tom had a great day!

Captain Vibert Blanche took the brunt of the slow early March, but he has been picking it up in April and has kept steady with some great nature tours. On March 26th Stephanie Kawalik took a great Nature Tour. They saw more than 20 nice dolphins with different colors. Also, they got some pictures of a baleen (that's Whale in Gringo) and a couple sea turtles.

On March 26th Manuel (Concierge Numero Uno at Nosara Paradise Rentals) and I released a Black marlin, one Sailfish and lost a nice dorado. The marlin was going absolutely crazy, moving from one teaser to the other one and spanking it with his bill. One of the teasers broke clean off of the line. I spent 42 minutes to release this fish, albeit with a few water breaks. This marked the beginning of some great billfish action on the Wanderer in March and April.

May 2010

The Nice n' Tight stole the spotlight on April 22nd when client William was on board and on the reel for a fantastic 110lbs Sailfish release. As always the crew and Captain Eduardo made it a short fight and the billfish was subdued with precision and released with no harm. Great work by angler, boat and crew!

April 23rd brought client Catherine Shaller on the Nice n' Tight for a half day of fishing and snorkeling. She caught two nice dorados over 15lbs and took in some super underwater vistas of our coral reefs.

On May 14th Client Mark Padilla from Samarra booked Captain Vibert for a morning trip. The Captain pointed the Cabo towards the offshore reef and begin to tease the bigger fish up from the bottom. First Mate Vibert Jr. and client Mark were jigging the deep water off of the transom, waiting for the first nibble when BOOM!

A big, mean, hard-fightin' Rooster fish started peeling off line like it was cotton candy and dove straight down. The Captain and crew were patient and let the big fella tire out. They kept up about 3 knots to keep the fish honest and made the slow spiral overhead. The Rooster followed the water column up like a spiral staircase right into the Cabo. Upon release, this Rooster felt to weigh about 45lbs.

June 2010

One of our favorite clients Ivan de Luca and his son Tomas were on the Cabo for several fun filled days, catching nearly one of every species in the ocean. Unfortunately the biggest Marlin they had hooked up broke the leader right at the boat, but that's how it goes when fighting the mightiest fish in the sea. From the inshore reefs to offshore trolling, Captain Vibert knows how to get the job done.

The highlight of Captain Eduardo's month came on May 18th client Michael Coleman and his wife caught a released a HUGE Blue Marlin. It was the first lifetime Marlin catch for both of these clients; once again FishingNosara delivers the fish of a lifetime via the hardest-working man in Garza: Captain Eduardo Carillo.

After the Hurricane blew through, Lian Thomas and her group had an action packed trip on June 6th. They boated nine 15-20lbs. Yellowfin Tuna and raised four Marlin. Client Mike Kelley booked a pair of trips on the Wanderer on June 7th-8th and he enjoyed bending rods the whole time. He got a few nice Yellowfin Tuna and released a 100+lbs. Sailfish.

June 10th was a chance for the staff of Nosara Paradise Rentals to get out on the water and do a little 'research' for the company. General Manager Javier Hernandez, Concierge Manuel DeCampos, and Chief Groundskeeper Grevin Hernandez had great success on a three-hour sunset cruise. They caught seven 20lbs. Yellowfin tunas, a 15lbs. Ponpano, a 12lbs. Amberjack, and a 12lbs. Rainbow runner. Our staff is the best in the business and they can fish!

Recently Renee Taylor and family booked the Wanderer on June 16th and had a magnificent day. They released a 250lbs. Striped Marlin and a 120lbs. Sailfish and a nice Yellowfin tuna to the mix...call this a perfect end to a great month of fishing.
