White Vintage Furniture?
Hi,
Please help, how do i turn a normal wooden furniture item into a rustic white vintage piece? The real name is FRENCH PROVINCIAL.

would i need to sand paper it and use some sort of varnish or cloth to wipe it to give it that old feeling?>
You can start by primering the wood to seal it (with a white primer). You then use the color of choice as the finish. (This should be flat finish cause you need to seal the paint later and the polyurathane will not adhere well to a gloss finish.) At this point you have a completely coved, newly painted product. You then sand the corners and edges back to the natural wood and feather back to the flat surfaces to give it the "worn" look. At this point you use a white wash stain made to help create the vintage look even further. You could use any white wash stain if it's hard to find, main thing use latex stain on latex paint, and oil on oil paint. This will wash the wood a little and will brown the paint a little to make it look older. Finally you need to seal the finish with a polyurathane and use the gloss of your choice. You can do this with any color that you choose, they should just compliment each other. (red on blue, yellow on green). Because you are trying to make it look beat up, it's hard to screw up. It is time consuming so have a place to let it dry and just do a layer at a time.
