Planned game releases for summer 2009

With a pretty quiet period for game releases, this post seemed like a good idea to keep people in the loop about what games there are to look forward to for the rest of the year.

There have only been a handful of great game releases so far, some of which include X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena but this is all about to pick up and the next few months are certainly something to get excited about as you will see below.

The closest upcoming release is in just a few days and that's for Guitar Hero Metallica, the lastest game in the Guitar Hero series. No matter what you are a fan of, whether it's Guitar Hero, Metal or Metallica, you will want this game because it features a wicked setlist with a range of over 20 acts.

Another release within the next few days is Terminator Salvation which is being released the same day as Guitar Hero Metallica. This game is set to the storyline of the upcoming Terminator film. It's tricky to say if this will be a good game because it's based upon the upcoming Terminator film meaning the quality of the game may not be very good because it's a movie game.

Now, heading into the beginning of June, you can look forward to seeing some of the following:

The Sims 3, although I am not at all a fan of these games, no doubt this one will be massively popular and you can expect everything you love from the original games, aswell as a whole bundle of new features to discover.

Next game up is Prototype, this looks like some new, very odd, but hopefully good. It would have been nice to see a demo of this game before it's released but I guess there's still some time.

Batman: Arkham Asylum, I think every Batman fan will be getting their mits on this game. The new Batman Arkham Asylum game looks amazing and hopefully we won't be let down. There is some worries about the release date of this game because there was some recent news that said the game was going to be delayed and the release date was changing from June, however, no new date has been released.

Meant to be released on the same day as Batman is Ghostbusters. There is some confusion about the release date of this one aswell be there was news that Sony had payed for an exclusive period but that is yet to be confirmed.

Into July we are going to see the release of the latest Harry Potter game to co-inside with the release of the movie, however, just like the Terminator game, the quality of this game is questionable. Although I'm pretty sure the Harry Potter fans will want to get their hands on this game as soon as possible.

Now comes the games that are set for later in the year but within those few months there are some real good ones. These include Dirt 2, the sequel to the amazingly popular Dirt game which brought rally racing games to life. Other games include Max Payne 3 and another addition to the Rock Band array, The Beatles Rock Band which is being released along side a wide range of new instruments. Another addition to the Need for Speed series is also planned, Need for Speed Shift aswell as Starcraft 2, Bioshock 2, Battlefield Bad Company 2 and finally Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 which is most likely going to be the biggest hit of the year.

There is definately a huge amount fo watch out for and no doubt there will be even more releases that I have said here on the run up to Christmas.
