Bulk Interested In Stewart Rally To Restore Sanity
On Television on Sept 16, there was a statement by Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert of Comedy Central who came up with a brilliant plan. This strategy involved cable TV implies that have dueling public rallies. Glenn Beck come up with the "Restoring Honor" rally in front of the Lincoln Memorial in August. This is exactly what is being satirized with the dueling events to be held Oct 30 in the National Mall. The "Rally to Restore Sanity" was announced on the Daily Show by Stewart. Stephen Colbert countered by announcing the "March to Keep Fear Alive" on the Colbert Report.
Stewart/Colbert rally a response to radical fringe
It only took three weeks for Beck to obtain smacked within the face after his "Restoring Honor" rally held in front of the Lincoln Memorial. Stewart and Colbert made bulletins for their rallies then. Beck had his event at the exact same place and on the 47th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech, which offended numerous, reports CNN. Website logos and icons created for the Colbert/Stewart rallies mock Beck's with the same type fonts and stylized images. According to the National Park Service, Stewart and Colbert have a permit to collect on the Washington Monument grounds Oct. 30.
" Take it down a notch for America" is what Stewart suggests
"The 70 to 80 percenters" that don't have extreme political views are being appealed to by the Rally to Restore Sanity. He wanted for making fun slogans for the get together. He hoped they'd say things like, "I disagree with you, however I'm pretty sure you're not Hitler" and "I am not scared of Muslims/Tea Partiers/Socialists/Immigrants/Gun Owners/Gay...however I'm scared of Spiders." Comedy Central ended by showing the tagline. The rally's tagline will say, "Take it down a notch for America."
" ... freak out for freedom!" is what Colbert suggests
A rally meant to compliment Stewarts known as "The March to Keep Fear Alive" was announced by Stephen Colbert. Colbert had a different idea. He said we should "not take it down a notch." Next he said, "Now is the time for all good men to freak out for freedom!" According to Time, Reddit.com was where all the talk about Colbert satirizing Beck started. Reddit users designed a website for an event dubbed "Restoring Truthiness," a Colbert catch phrase. Colbert is a board member of the organizations going through DonorsChoose.org, which got more than $100,000 donated to it in just one day of Restoring Truthiness.
Midterms rallying getting a good turnout
By staging the rallies and entering the political debate, Stewart and Colbert just might influence the November midterm elections. The rallies may be more helpful to democrats than to republicans. Marc Ambeinder from the Atlantic explains this. Audiences for The Daily Show and also the Colbert Report are younger and more liberal than the older hard core conservatives watching Beck on Fox News. Ambeinder explained that numerous young individuals may become interested in politics with Stewart and Colbert striking a bit of enthusiasm. Many young individuals have just ignored politics as a result of the Tea Party and extremists on TV.
