A Trip through Spain’s Architectural Customs

Architecture tells a tender story about what a country has been through to get where it is nowadays; it sounds overly adoring, but it’s true that the key to a country’s past is hidden in plain sight in the form of concrete and non-tangible cultural evidences. Spain is one of those countries which have an impressive collection of well-conserved historical buildings that flaunt pieces of their history through different structures representative of different ages. This isn’t exactly surprising, given the beauty that the varied architectural structures increase Spain’s landscape.

Bridges were also built, the most popular and best-preserved of which is the Aqueduct of Segovia which can still be visited up till now.

As the Romanesque influences flourished, so did the Gothic influences eventually made their way to the shores of Spain. Gothic influences were signaled and what marked its onset is the construction of the very first Gothic structure in Spain. This church is the first gothic structure created in the country.

There are many other marks that history left with Spain, and amazingly, much of these marks are well-preserved. The key is to pace yourself and take in as much as you can about this wonderfully colorful culture.
