What is the chronology of Iron Man versus the Incredible Hulk?
In other words, at what point does Stark become Iron Man in relation to the events of the Incredible Hulk? Before the movie, during, after the scene where Hulk beats Abomination? I can't figure it out.
There is not a single anthology here. There are several reboots of the Ironman / Hulk story lines going back forty years.
A few years ago at Comic-con Stan Lee talked about this and pretty much explained that both Iron Man and Hulk have the same goal, to empower the human body beyond its evolved abilities. However, the approaches are different.
Iron Man does it by adding on the outside of the body while Hulk adds on inside the body. The tragedy is that both approaches is a constant struggle to have man be in control of the enhancements instead of being at effect of it. That is the undercurrent of the Iron Man / Hulk story convergence.
As far as the live action movies goes, it looks like they are taking the 80's approach where Stark starts up the Avengers and Hulk becomes the groups "problem child."
I can't wait to see the Hulk-Buster Armor go live action!
