You double dipped firearms by including suicide deaths with firearms in both the firearm deaths and suicides. So in all reality firearm deaths should be reduced by 16,869 that you already said were suicides. This calls into question whether your other figures are correct.
More important is that firearms do not cause suicides, or murder people commit suicide, and people commit murder. The UK has very strict gun laws and they have the same suicide rate as the US, Japan has even more strict firearm laws and hardly anyone in Japan is allowed to own a firearm, but the suicide rate for Japan is double what the US and the UK is. This may not answer your question, but it will set you straight on these facts.
