Calling Design "Work": A Graphic Designer's Choice
The famous I Love NY logo is seen printed on everything from T-shirts to buttons, it's a hot seller not only in New York but all over the country. The lone silhouette of a singer illuminated with electric rainbow hair has become the icon of a generation. This site teaches you about graphic design outsourcing.
Also, anyone who owns an LP collection dating from the 1960s most likely has one to several of his renowned graphic design pieces. His name may not be as well known as his work, but his work is recognized instantly by millions of people. But, can it be called art? This designer chooses not to discuss this topic at length. He actually prefers to avoid using that terminology altogether. There is simply work, and sometimes upon very rare occasion when a work is truly moving and astounds us, there is great work, he once remarked in an interview. Even that which we traditionally accept as art would be better regarded as work. Even better, if it achieves the goal set for it, we can call it good; bad work fails to accomplish the task set out for it.
Sometimes called the Picasso of design, he once featured an exhibit that traced his wanderings through life. A red nylon rope wove itself through his works to the early sketches and concept drawings that begin the design process. Almost like a maze. You aren't really aware of where you will end up, and you come to the resolution that is derived from curiosity and discovery.
Paper wings and an angel postcard is what sparked the conception of yet another gorgeous art piece. A postcard of an angel with some paper wings, for instance, led to a painted variation of the initial theme. A well-known comic strip is mounted on the opposing side of yet another famed art piece. This poster centers on a recognized pianist sneezing, thus making fun of the supercilious perceptions about classical music. To get a closer look on design outsourcing visit this site.
His main visual resource has always been the world around him. A famous painting's theme inspired his message in the poster he created for an Italian typewriter company. The painting that inspired the piece shows a heartbroken dog curled up beside the feet of his late master. In the poster, a red typewriter replaces the deceased master.
With his help, a studio was opened in New York; this studio has elevated design to an upper echelon. He was also the co-founder of a major New York magazine that helped to set the tone for the creation of other city-specific magazines throughout the country. His designs can be viewed as a permanent exhibit in a well-known trade center, as well as be seen in the restaurants and observation deck on location. Additionally, he conceived the worldwide AIDS poster and emblem, along with a supermarket chain. This designer finds interest in all work, and loves to see just how far he can push his boundaries.
The iconic poster mentioned earlier of the rainbow-hair singer has been reprinted in over six million copies. The poster itself is abstract with elaborate colors in the hair that are similar to yet another famous artist. According to the designer, some folks have suggested he was high on drugs when he made this work. The designer denies this allegation. He has also created a huge playground for kids and a separate one for grown-ups.
