Build A Website For Idiots

I sell other people’s products. How do I build a website? I’ll construct it around a subject and not around the product.

I learned this from these podcast interviews. I’ll make my main keyword my domain name. When you do this you don’t have to put as much work in your SEO plan. Next I select the categories from the keyword phrases. They are just a few words. When I put up my blog I’ll have my categories already built from the keywords. Now I’ll use the longer tailed keywords for the content.

When I use the longer tailed keywords, sometimes I will put the product name in there to capture the people that are looking to read reviews on the topic.

It’s important to create a good niche website. The market that you veer into will determine the route that you go with your website. The longer the keyword phrases are the more targeted the phrase is. That is why it is important to make a website around a theme instead of the product.

So my process to build a website will consist of going for the overall topic, then I pick the category then I go for the longer tailed keywords for my content. When I build a website it is not niche specific as to how many pages I build. I use blogs because the spiders love blogs.

I have sites that are as small as 5 to 10 pages that are in a very tight niche about a specific topic. Then I have affiliate websites that are about 500 pages and could easily lead down to 5000 if I really work on it. So it just depends on how much you want to get down to the niche with a fine tooth comb. You basically run the website off of the keywords that you find for your research.

Being creative plays a big part in designing your web pages. What are people searching for? Give them what they want. When people visit my blog, I take the time to put up really good content on it so that they will stay around for a while.

You can study the art of writing ad copy on your blog so that you can lead it into a sale. That is the benefit of constructing pages around a subject matter instead of the product. Go out of your way to create value. Don’t just get someone to click on your link for the sake of them clicking on it.

When you tell people about other people’s products, customers can tell if you had added value to your blog or not. The best articles are about solving a particular problem. Many times people don’t know what to buy to solve a problem, but if you take the time to explain why they should buy it, you’re well on your way to building a good website.
