Making Treasured Memories With Your Family.

One of my earliest memories was of special family moments shared together. The warmth and closeness of these moments can forge strong bonds. Often my siblings would talk about these moments spent and we would realize that our parents did something right while raising us. Our relationships have never been stronger than they are today and perhaps it is that reason why we are so close.

My mother spent quite a bit of time in the kitchen, and we would always come in and help her with various tasks. We may not have always helped her out, however we did try. There were fond memories of us sometimes accidentally spilling food from her anodized cookware set and mom would help us clean up the mess. Her cookware ended up looking like it went through a battlefield by the time we had grown and still her patience with us never fails to amaze me. Perhaps that is why each one of us love to bake and cook.

As much as we loved helping our mom in the kitchen, there were other things that we enjoyed just as much. Family game nights were another way that we all connected. When a board game got set on the table, we all raced downstairs to ensure we got our favorite colored game pieces. At that point, we thought you had to have the right piece to have fun. It was quite a few years before we all discovered that irregardless what piece you are using, the fun comes from the people that you are playing the game with.

Another precious memory is everyone looking through the pictures in my mothers scrapbook album. Each page lovingly showcased us on brightly colored pages with heartfelt messages or comical statements. As much as it was a pleasure to look through the album with my family, it was a pleasure for them to watch me go through the pictures with my siblings.

There were many times when our laughter filled the air, and surely it gave our parents quite a bit of enjoyment as we pointed out humor in those photographs. Although perhaps one of my favorite pictures in that scrapbook was the time we attended a ball game. Peanuts and soda in each of our hands as we found our seats and sat down.

With a soda in hand we took our seats in the stands. Just as we started sitting the the batter stepped up to the plate, with each practice swing his black helmet shone in the sunlight. As the ball flew towards him he lifted the bat and as it connected it flew off the bat towards our seats. We all stood trying to catch it, my mother snapped a picture as the ball landed in my hands.

With so many special family moments, my family enjoyed making each and every one of them. Perhaps my children will make some treasured family memories with me.
