Spiderman 4 is no more: Is Tobey destined to be a Hobbit?

Spiderman 4 will not happen be grateful

I, for one, breathed a huge sigh of relief when I read that Spider-Man 4? will never become a reality. And that's from a fan. I forgave, and even liked some of, the plot differences from the comic books. Tobey Maguire was actually pretty decent in the role. That being said, let us be honest with ourselves - the first was forgivably cheesy, the second was good, but the third movie was kind of lacking.

That said, what fourth movie in any series has turned out really well? Some have posited that the most recent Rambo made up for the previous two of that series. For instance, do you remember "Batman and Robin? That film scarred me for life, it was so bad. Paperwork for auto financing is more exciting.

What will Tobey do now?

MTV reports that Maguire has long been said to be a contender for the role of young Bilbo Baggins in the Peter Jackson-produced, Guillermo del Toro-directed Lord of the Rings prequels. However, MTV also reports that Tobey Maguire himself told them that isnt true. Time's going to tell on that one.

You can look at the IMDB page for Mr. Maguire, and it lists upcoming projects, among them "Spider Man5. Also, Spider-Man 4? as being in pre-production, so I think perhaps my go-to movie information site is a little behind. He also isn't listed as being slated for a role in The Hobbit. In fact, the Hobbit, having been purported as in the works for years, may actually be languishing in development hell.

The Tobey of the future

He definitely is best known for his superhero role, but he is a good actor he was, after all, nominated for a Golden Globe for his role in "Brothers. This is probably an indicator that he's moving on with his career, and he's interested in more serious fare.

Then again, maybe hell just keep mixing it up. His next film is called "Details," a dark indie comedy. His CV is heavily weighted by dramas, so perhaps a dark comedy will a good change for him.
