Tom And Jerry Movies The Ideal Gift For All Ages
Animated cartoon series have been a part of most people’s childhood, bugs bunny; daffy duck, the Flintstones and the smurf’s have been around for well over a decade and still make an appearance on millions of television screens around the world. Though one particular cartoon for kids that stands out above the rest is Tom and Jerry; if you were growing up through the 70’s and 80’s you will be all too familiar with this comical cat and mouse duo. The plot is simple, Tom is a cat and Jerry is mouse and even though they are friends at heart they love nothing better than to torment each other; usually with Jerry coming out on top.No matter what mischief they get up to the comedic duo always end up settling things and becoming friends at the end, it’s the slap stick humor in between that gets us ll rolling on the floor with laughter.
A brief history of Tom and Jerry
No one knows why Tom and Jerry dvd and shorts became so well known around the world, but it could have something to do with the straight forward slap stick humor that can be understood by everyone no matter what language they spoke. The whole thing started with two friends, William Hanna and Joseph Barbara, they were paired up to create the cartoon for kids for the MGM studios, both their artistic talent and directorship flair went hand in hand. During their time working on the animated short they made 116 episodes that were aired on the television to cartoon hungry kids just home from school, due to difficulties MGM dropped the show and the team separated.
The next man to take the job of creative director for this great cartoon for kids was Gene Ditsch a talented artist and filmmaker from the Czech Republic. Gene’s eccentric style completely altered the cozy family appeal of the show and he was soon replaced 3 years later by the infamous Chuck Jones. If you’re reading this then you probably also know The Flinstones, The Jetsons, Yogi Bear and Huckle Berry Hound; all of these popular cartoons for kids were the creation of William and Joseph’s talent.
Which is your favorite Tom and Jerry Movie?
If you were still a kid back in the 70’s and early 80’s then you’ll probably have your own personal favorites in terms of episodes, though the days of having to wait around each day for the cartoons to switch on are over.
