While she's off doing that, Tony wants a new love interest. Whether or not it's an agent of The Mandarin, or just a casual affair, Tony needs a new love curiosity to maintain the character fresh. I don't need to see Stark pining over Pepper in the third act.

With Captain America: The First Avenger already trying doomed, and a Thor sequel dependent on if Marvel can give you another solo adventure worth doing, Iron Man three could be Marvel Studios one and only probability at making a trilogy.
