Have You Ever Wondered About Wonder Woman?
Wonder Woman is an Amazon, based on the Amazons of Greek mythology. Wonder Woman was put together by William Moulton Marston (an American psychologist already recognized for inventing the polygraph) as a "distinctly feminist role model whose mission was to bring the Amazon ideals of love, peace, and sexual equality to a world torn by the hatred of men". Marston introduced the concept to Max Gaines, co-founder of All-American Publications. Granted the go ahead, Marston created Wonder Woman with Elizabeth (his wife), who Marston considered to be a model of the era's unconventional, liberated woman.
Wonder Woman debuted in All Star Comics #8 (December 1941), scripted by Marston and with art by Harry G. Peter. Marston developed Wonder Woman to depict a particular form of female empowerment. Feminism argues that women are the same as men and should be treated as such. Marston's representative of femininity is a 6-foot-tall Amazon wielding a golden lasso that causes obedience on the ones it encircles. In Marston's imagination, women not only held the potential to be as fine as men but to be superior to men.
In the beginning, Wonder Woman owed her skills to the goddess Aphrodite generating Amazons superior to men, with Diana being the best of their kind. The Golden Age Wonder Woman was later on updated by Marston to be in a position to will a great amount of brain energy into her muscles and limbs because of her Amazon training, bestowing her with incredible power and speed. According to her initial appearance, she is stronger and more agile than a 100 of the best male athletes.
In the beginning, Wonder Woman was an Amazon champion who wins the right to return Steve Trevor, a Us intelligence officer whose airplane had crashed on the Amazons' remote island birthplace, to a "Man's World" and to combat crime and the evil of the Nazis.
Towards the end of the 1960s, Wonder Woman gave up her abilities as a way to remain in Man's World as an alternative to accompany her fellow Amazons to a different dimension. Turning into a mod boutique proprietor, the powerless Diana Prince gained a Chinese advisor named I Ching. Under I Ching's direction, Diana gained knowledge of martial arts and weapons skills and brcame involved in adventures that encompassed a multitude of genres, from mythology to espionage.
As a result of the popularity of the Wonder Woman Tv show, Wonder Woman subsequently went back to her superpowered beginnings in The Justice League Of America and to the World War II period in her own title. It was suggested, and finally confirmed, that any woman who underwent Amazon coaching would earn superhuman strength. The TV series took up this idea, and in the first episode of Super Friends, Diana declares to Aquaman "... the only thing that can surpass super strength is the power of the brain". In early Wonder Woman stories, Amazon coaching involves strengthening this ability employing pure mental energy.
All versions of Diana illustrate her as a masterful strategist, athlete, fighter and acrobat, qualified and seasoned in many ancient and modern forms of armed and unarmed combat, including exclusively Amazonian martial arts. In some versions, her mother prepared her, as Wonder Girl, for a future vocation as Wonder Woman. Right from the start, she is described as highly skilled in working with her Amazon bracelets to stop bullets and in deploying her golden lasso.
She is a top-notch warrior who has defeated Batman, Big Barda, and Black Canary in sparring matches. The contemporary version of the figure differs from her compatriots in that she is ready to use deadly force when she believes it essential. So why not make this halloween a super powered halloween with a Deluxe Wonder Woman Halloween costume.
