Cell Phones - Windows Phone 7 Phones That You Might Like
Windows Phone 7 is Microsoft’s latest move to become the dominant player in the extremely competitive smartphone operating system market. Windows Mobile was quickly overtaken by other more powerful operating systems and has been shut down altogether. Windows Phone 7 has now become Microsoft’s primary weapon in this battle and several high-end smartphones are running this operating system. What follows is a summary of three powerful smartphones and the features they employ to showcase the Windows Phone 7 operating system.
HTC HD7 - HTC employed the HD2 to run the now outdated Windows Mobile and has stepped up their game with the HTC HD7 to run the latest Microsoft Windows Phone 7. The HD7 is a solid player in the smartphone game with many great features. The HTC HD7 provides a large 4.3 inch LCD touch-screen display. For easy viewing at a table or desk, the unit has a great little kickstand to prop the device up. The battery life is limited to 6.5 hours from a 3.7V 1,230 mAh battery, which is less than many in its class. On a positive note, this smartphone has 16 GB of storage and a 5 mega-pixel camera.
Samsung Omnia 7 - Samsung enters the Windows Phone 7 bunch with the Omnia 7. This unit shines with its 4 inch AMOLED display with 800 x 480 pixel resolution, now standard on all the Windows Phone 7 grouping. The phone body is metallic which gives a good solid feel that this is a substantial piece of smartphone hardware. The phone is equipped with a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 8250 chipset and the phone’s connectivity options include GPS, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi. In addition, the phone has an FM radio and a 5 mega-pixel autofocus camera.
LG Optimus 7 - The LG Optimus 7 comes with all of the standard Windows Phone 7 features such as GPS, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, and a 5 mega-pixel autofocus camera. The phone runs a 1 GHz Snapdragon chipset just like the Samsung Omnia 7. The AMOLED screen is a bit smaller however at 3.8 inches. This phone body is not entirely of metal like the Omnia 7 however, as only the back plate is metallic. This still gives the phone a good feel in the hand and the slim design is great for pockets.
With so many standard features on Windows Phone 7 smartphones, the competition is tough and each manufacturer will be relying greatly on aesthetics in this race for the Windows Phone 7 champion. With so many great offerings it will not take long for Microsoft to again be a leader in smartphone technology.
