Volcanic Ash Forces Relocation Of Iron Man Premiere
The Iceland volcano erupting has caused trouble already, but it also has forced the Iron Man sequel premiere to move to Los Angeles from London. I doubt it will cause any studio heads or cast members to run for a low rate personal loan, as the grosses are probably not going to be affected. Iron Man 2 is a hotly awaited sequel, and ash isn't enough to slow demand.
Iron Man is one of the most Marvel-ous comic book movies
Puns aside, Marvel has become a bit of a cinematic powerhouse, having released or been involved in some of the most successful films based on comic book series. Fans and critics have adored some, and torn other Marvel films asunder. (While we're on the subject - let's be honest; Spider-Man 3 was awful.) The first Iron Man was one of their greatest successes, and studios would easily get guaranteed loans to make another.
What's next for Marvel?
In May of 2010, Iron Man 2 will premiere. Many fans are waiting to see Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury in the film. The rumor mill is turning regarding several things, including a Fantastic Four reboot, though some think that dog should just be left to lie. At present, Thor is in production, and a Wolverine sequel is also slated to begin soon. Also inline for production for Marvel Studios are a Captain America film, The Avengers, a Spider-Man reboot, and a Deadpool film starring Ryan Reynolds.
Iron Man 2
The premiere for Iron Man 2, from the New York Times, will be moved to Los Angeles from London. The recent Iceland volcano activity has made Europe a troublesome flyzone. Iron Man 2 attendees must settle for palm trees and smog in L.A. instead of the glitz, glamour and bad weather of London. Though the volcano has certainly interrupted air travel, it isn't going to dent the grosses for Iron Man 2. The second should easily do as well as the first.
